Karen looked uneasy. “You don’t understand. He has a lot of influence. If I tell you where he is, I’m as good as dead.” Of course, being cornered by a vampire hunter, there was a chance she was as good as dead right then. Her chances weren’t looking very good at all.

“I agree, he’s scum. He kills just to kill. But…” Karen shook her head. She was clearly shaken up. In her head she was weighing the pros and cons of putting her life on the line for a stranger who didn’t even like her. It would be great to get rid of the Blacksmith. One less asshole vamp. Doing so, though, could cost her everything.
